Version 1.32 Sent to Apple
March 10, 2009 — Mike (admin)Last night we sent off the final revision of version 1.32 to Apple. Not much has changed in this version. The big addition is the ability to send emails from in Feeds without having to open Mail and leave the app. This has proved to be a wonderful time saver for us and we don’t know how we lived without it. We would appreciate any bug reports on the email sending feature as soon as it gets in your hands. Though we have thoroughly tested it there is no possible way we could test all possible scenarios. Feeds Version 1.31 (finally) in the App Store
February 23, 2009 — Mike (admin)I just got an email from Apple minutes ago saying Feeds version 1.31 has been approved. It should start showing up in App Stores within a few hours. This update has been a painful one for us to wait out and for all users as well. Thanks for your patience on this one and enjoy the update!
Upcoming Features in Version 1.32
February 18, 2009 — Mike (admin)If Apple ever gets around to releasing the version of Feeds they have had for over a week now we will be able to get moving on the new version. There are a few obvious additions and a couple not so obvious for the upcoming 1.32 release.
Adjusting Feeds Settings for Your Reading Style
February 16, 2009 — Mike (admin)We have heard a bunch of people saying that Feeds gets out of sync with Google Reader the past few weeks. In 99% of cases this is just a case of the settings not matching your reading style. With this post we hope to clear up what settings should be used for your particular use case. (more…)
Downtime For Users Not Using Google Reader
February 8, 2009 — Mike (admin)To all of the users out there still using the Feeds sync (not Google Reader) there will be a couple hours of downtime later tonight. We expect downtime to be less than an hour with a maximum downtime of about 3 hours. We apologize for such short notice and hope to get things up and running as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, this would be a great time to try out using Google Reader to sync with!
UPDATE: The server maintenance did not go as planned and we are experiencing some downtime. We hope to have everything up and running within a couple hours (by 11:00 AM PST) at worst. We apologize for the inconvenience.
ANOTHER UPDATE: Looks like we are back up and running.
Quick Update on Version 1.3
February 8, 2009 — Mike (admin)With version 1.22 we introduced some really big changes on the backend. The entire system of saving and accessing feeds and feed items was redone from the ground up. So far the transition has been very smooth with just one bug that popped up that we have already fixed. We also found a little bug with the InstaPaper support that we have already fixed. (more…)
Feeds Version 1.22 Rejected
February 4, 2009 — Mike (admin)The newest update to Feeds was rejected due to improper use of table row selection and progress indicators. We have patched the update and resubmitted. What this means is that a lot of the features that were slated for version 1.3 will now be in 1.22. We figured we might as well send them off since they appear to be pretty solid. The icons were not yet finished so they will probably be redone in the next update.
Big Changes in Feeds Version 1.3
February 1, 2009 — Mike (admin)As always, Feeds development continues to be driven by user requests. The only unread items setting has been changed to affect all feeds. If you never want to see your read items again then just turn that to ON and your read items will vanish. We are currently testing the latest batch of updates. Below are two images highlighting the most significant updates.
Feeds Version 1.22 Nearing Completion
January 24, 2009 — Mike (admin)We have been busy adding the most asked for features into the next version of Feeds while still trying to keep it simple and easy to use. The last update included a new method for syncing with Google Reader that greatly sped up the network connection and sync time. This speed increase introduced some other unexpected consequences. The worst of which was having Feeds freeze for up to a few seconds (usually just a fraction of a second for most people) when it added all of the downloaded RSS feed items to it’s internal database. We didn’t like the way things worked when downloading a lot of items so this week we rewrote the entire internal database system to make sure it never, ever slows down the user interface. Feeds is much smoother now. (more…)
Feeds Version 1.0 Fixes Major Bugs
January 8, 2009 — Mike (admin)First off, we apologize to anyone who was affected by the bug that caused Feeds to crash after updating to version 0.99. That being said, we have found the bug with the help of a couple users who were kind enough to email us their crash logs. Version 1.0 has been sent to Apple for review and hopefully it will be available shortly. (more…)
