Feeds Version 0.95 in Review by Apple
September 2, 2008 — Mike (admin)We sent off the new version of Feeds late last night for review by Apple. For a sneak peak of what’s in store just go to the Feeds page in iTunes or the App Store. It turns out Apple decided to update our text and images before they put the update in the App Store. It usually takes them about 5 – 7 days to finish their approval process so expect the update then.
Hi
I’m confused –
1) iTunes Store shows the version as 0.94, my iPod Touch as 1.022, but you say the new version won’t appear for 5-7 days.
2) The description says I can read feeds off-line, but I can’t … it tells me I have no internet connection. Is this a feature coming in the new version in 5-7 days?
Thanks
Rich
Rich, It’s nothing you missed. Apple jumped the gun and put our new images and description up and they failed to put version 0.95 up with the images. The update should roll our in a couple days if all goes well with Apple and it will appear in your App Store under updates for free then you will have offline viewing and the rest of the features that are missing. We apologize about the confusion.

I just installed this app and i think it’s great. Only problem: i can’t get more than one feed per domain. Eg a blog’s comment feed can’t be added. A solution could be allowing feeds’ urls to be added manually.
Niels, you should be able to add as many feed per domain as you like. I have quite a few forum feeds from different sections of the same forum. To enter a URL manually just touch the Add Feed button and enter the full URL in the box and that should do it for you.

Thanks a lot, Mike! I tried again and this time it worked. Maybe at first it failed because of a typo, or because I left out ‘www.’.
Thanks a lt for this great app! I’m already using it more than any other app on my iPhone!
You guys are awesome! The changes you made rock. I can’t wait till it’s live in the app store. I can finally have your app as the only RSS app on my iPhone. Thank you so much for all the great improvements. You really do listen to your customers. Thanks again.
Thanks for the compliments Jason. We have another tiny feature coming soon that may or may not help you out. There will be a post about it in a day or so but basically it will allow you to copy/paste feed URLs (for those long ones that are touch to enter on the iPhone) into a web page then you can add them to Feeds by visiting the same web page on your iPhone. More on that in a day or so…

Why does ‘feeds’ sometimes show the splash screen wheni open it and then just abort back to the iphone icon normal screen? I updated to the latest firmware but i had feeds working since then. last time it done this i installed a free app from the appstore and it fixed it. not this time though. any ideas? this is very annoying. thanks
Richard, we have seen this with a few apps from the App Store. From what we’ve heard this is a bug that will be fixed with a firmware update sometime this month. Here is a link with a bit more information: http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2008/08/19/jobs-fix-for-iphone-apps-crashing-in-september/
Unfortunately, there isn’t much we can do until Apple gets the firmware update out there.
This is a nice little app so far. Any plans on allowing OPML import?
I have already purchased the feeds app and I am wondering if there are there any plans to add an auto-update feature. This is the most important feature that I am looking for in a feed-reader – that it automatically updates the feeds at a specified interval (like the mail app, etc.) Is this a feature that you are planning on implementing? If so, I would gladly pay another 1 or 2 dollars for the update. Thx for the great app.
Dave, the new version allows you to set a time interval (5 minutes – 30 minutes) for how often it should update. Every time you open Feeds if it has been at least as long as that time interval it will automatically update all of your feeds.
And best of all you get the update for free!
Mike
bc, We haven’t yet been able to figure out a viable solution to importing OPML files. The problem is that on the iPhone itself there is no way to grab a file for uploading. We considered setting up a separate website where you can upload an OPML file but then getting the feeds into Feeds is a problem. We do have something coming with the version that is in review that will help out for those long, hard to type URL’s but it isn’t really being setup with adding a lot of feeds in mind. Check back here in the next few days and there will be a post on the new way to add feeds.

Hi
It’s been 5-7 days and no update, and Apple tells me
“I understand you have questions about RSS reader called Feeds by Prime31 Web Design. I would be happy to help, but the iTunes Store Customer Support team does not evaluate and review these applications, so I can’t give you specific information.”
???
Richard
Richard, Feeds has been ‘In Review’ now since Monday, September 1st. Unfortunately there isn’t anything we can do to get the process moving. We are at Apple’s mercy with our application updates. We are guessing the event Apple held today took up all of their resources so it delayed everything. Could be wishful thinking… Hopefully they get the update out there soon.
