Feeds 1.8 Sneek Peek (if Apple ever finishes reviewing the 1.7 update)
September 4, 2009 — Mike (admin)Since Apple has taken over a month now to review version 1.7 of Feeds we have been busy preparing version 1.8. 1.8 is probably the biggest update yet besides when we added Google Reader syncing a loooong time ago. There are a few screen shots below to let you see the visual changes we made. The internal changes that I can remember off the top of my head are:
- The ‘Show only Unread’ feature will now hide feeds and folders that don’t have any read items
- Reordering of feeds and folders for Google Reader (Note: changing the order in Feeds will not affect the order on Google Reader)
- Better InstaPaper integration. Feeds will not prompt for and remember your password so you only need to enter it once.
- Better ReadItLater integration. Same as InstaPaper, Feeds will ask for your login info only once and then remember it. You no longer need to go into Settings.app to enter your login info.
- Visual overhaul. We changed the look and feel a bit because Feeds was looking a little bit dated with an emphasis on performance so there isn’t too much visual flair.
- Actual website favicons are displayed (when available. RSS feeds that use aggrigators such as FeedBurner will not have their favicons present).
- If you have 3.0 installed you will get to use the standard Apple Mail.app compose message right inside Feeds.
- You can now post to Twitter a message that can (if you want to) include a shortened version of the articles permalink.
- When viewing a list of articles, you can send an email with all the articles including their permalinks and preview text.
- The much needed Help button has been added (pay no attention to the ugly icon placeholder in the pic below)
- We removed a bunch of settings from the Settings.app to simplify things.
- You can now back sync as far as 5 days (not suggested. It WILL be slow).
- You can now set the number of items per feed to save as low as 25. This speeds things up for those who have a ton of feeds.
- Blue is now the default theme color.
- A few bug fixes here and there
We apologize about the delay with 1.7 and really hope Apple makes some changes to their review process. Not to gripe, but in the time Feeds has been in review (since July 2nd) three updates to Facebook have been approved. Favoritism? Unfair review practices? You be the judge…
And now some screenshots:
UPDATE: we pulled the previous version 1.7 that has been in review since July 2nd yesterday and replaced it with this version. Version 1.7 will now be the version in the images above. We are hoping that resubmitting won’t add any more time the review process (is it possible to add any more time at this point?). Maybe the last update we sent to Apple got ‘lost’ over there. Who knows? Not us, that’s for sure.
UPDATE: Apple just approved version 1.7! We are already aware of 2 bugs and we apologize about that. The rushed cycle due to our last update not being accepted after 6 weeks caused us to get a bit itchy on our trigger fingers. The 2 bugs we are aware of only affect landscape mode so hopefully it won’t affect too many people.
The funny thing is, the developer of the Facebook app kept assuring people who were griping about how long THAT was taking that “there’s no preferential treatment; any app submitted starts at the bottom of the list.”
It’s been so long that it almost sounds like it’s just slipped through a crack over there.
@Joe, what is the most amusing thing of all about Facebooks magic approval times is that Apple tells developers not to continuously send in updates. They would prefer an update per month at most. Every other developer I have spoke to found that they get longer review times by posting updates right after the previous update was accepted but somehow Facebook gets through faster?!?
Hi Mike. The new version sounds great! Can’t wait. It’s rediculous… There’s been multiple updates to other apps in the month we’ve been waiting for Feeds to be updated. Maybe it’s time to escalate the issue to Phil Schiller!!. We shouldn’t have to wait this long… but I appreciate there’s very little you can do about the delays.
How about some ad hoc provisioning whilst we’re waiting? I’d happily do some testing of the new version!!
@Stuart, the only problem with Ad Hoc testing is that we can only have 100 iPhones on our account ever. There is no way to delete the old ones!
Mike,
It looks beautiful and I can’t wait. May I make one request about the graphical flair though? Is there any way wecould get a thumbnail preview of the images within the feed onthe feed list screen as an option to enable, similar to that of Newsstand (sorry to mention it, but that feature is an awesome option to have)? It could be a separate process from the feed sync, that way sync times are not increased and would even further help the feed preview option in determining if the feed is one you want to read or not. I know I’ve requested a lot, but it could help future sales too! Thanks for the consideration! Keep up the good work, I may have to drive from Kentucky and knock on cupertino’s doors to get the app approved.
On a side not regarding the facebook approval, from my understanding, the facebook app creator has been using an expedited channel to get his app approved, that is only supposed to be for “emergency” bug fixes. But big name companies that could effect apples PR are always going to get preferential treatment. Unfair, and only furthers my statement about apples products in my 1.7 comments.
Mike, this new release looks awesome! With regards to the delay for approval of version 1.7, I would definitely escalate this one. Another thing to consider, which you probably have already, would be to retire 1.7 an submit 1.8 right away.
Finally, Apple clearly has a serious problem with their approval mechanism. The best way to get their attention and have them moving would be to use the power of internet. I would submit your story with details (versions, dates and delays) to various notorious blogs and news websites. This will force a reaction out of them as it will give munitions to everyone having problems with the approval system. It is time that Apple either ammend their process, or higher more people if the delays are due to lack of personnel to evaluate the high number of apps.
@Stef, unfortunately escalating with Apple is totally useless. We have escalated and even gone as far as to call Apple every day with a long delay in the review process that we had in the past and it didn’t appear to do much of anything. The crew that Apple has answering phones has no contact with the review department so all they claim to do is send an email to the review department and then they never hear back from them. We considering going straight to 1.8 but we fear that changing the release will put us in the back of the review queue again…
Yeah ! You implemented all changes I suggested one month ago (show only unread, new design, new icons) ! You are really fast, thank you very much.
Concerning the App store review process, Facebook 3.0 creates a complete crash for a lot of users (iPhone didn’t boot anymore – complete restore needed). Two days later the app 3.01 came to correct the bug and then a 3.02 some days later. I really don’t understand how Apple can have a review process and let a dangerous release like the 3.0 coming on millions of iPhones. Unbelievable !
So for me there is clearly favoritism for well known apps. This is unfair for good developers like you.
Thank you for the hard work
Can you add a button to “mark as unread”?
@Chris, ‘mark as unread’ can be done by swiping from right to left on the article in the list table. Be aware that it will only actually mark the item as unread on Google if it has been less than about 10 minutes (total guess what Google actually enforces). If you try to mark unread after that time it will not take effect on Googles servers.
Oh no! I was about to buy this app but when I saw your new design changes I just changed my mind. I love the classic iPhone design (with the white background and grey bubbles around the boxes). Your design was perfect and clean. Can you give us an option to keep the old skin? Also, could you move “starred items,” “all items” and “shared items” to another tab or something. I would much prefer to have only feeds on the home screen. I like that you are continuing to work on the app though.
@Kevin, we like the default look as well and we love the performance of not being image heavy like some apps out there. That is precisely why our redesign didn’t stray too far from the default look. A subtle gradient is all we added to keep things scrolling super fast and to keep the UI clean. It grew on us pretty quickly and perhaps it will grow on you as well.
Removing shared items is definitely something we will probably do in the near future. We haven’t heard from anyone who uses it so we are hoping that when we do get rid of it no one notices.
Man, good luck with Apple. The fact that the process is so opaque must really drive you nuts. I am sure that it affects reviews in the App store, as well.
@caa, we actually just gave up on version 1.7 and pulled it from the review process. We replaced it with the 1.8 build and now according to Apple we go back to the end of the review line. It can’t be any worse than where we were…
I am a string believer that linking this story on th web ans propagating all similar horror stories will make Apple react. No companies that deem therir reputation important will stay quiet when seeing their names starting to get tarnished by something that can be fixed…
In any case, this was my $0.02 of the day!
Just a note… I was going to go with a different RSS reader, but after seeing how much you keep improving the app here, I’ll give yours a try instead. Hopefully we’ll see the updates appear soon. Thanks!
@Mike, we try to do what we can. Apple is pretty good at keeping small developers down though so we can’t put out updates nearly as fast as we would like to.
@Mike (admin) is there an email address you can give us (your loyal following) so we can ask Apple to pull their finger out and get you guys approved? At the moment I’ve swapped to other applications because of the inability to hide empty feeds – but great to see you’ve fixed that.
Did you see my note a month or so ago about it being nigh on impossible to find your application on Google? The only way I found it again today was to go the “Google Reader” section of the settings page where I can find your URL. Searching Google for ‘feeds app’ doesn’t find anything and also you don’t have your URL or company name anywhere else in the product.
@Geoff, unfortunately Apple doesn’t give developers any special email address to get in touch with them. They avoid us like the plague.
I saw your note and we have a help section coming that will have contact info and a link to this site. It didn’t quite make the cut for 1.7 so it will go out with the 1.7 bugfixes mentioned above shortly.
Yay Feeds! Yay Feeds! Yay Feeds! Yay Feeds! Yay Feeds! Yay Feeds! Yay Feeds! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Prime31 and Mike. More should follow you’re lead.
Mike, your new version of Feeds just appeared on the App Store, I’m updating right now while typing this message! Congratulation once again and keep up the amazing work your doing!
Wow! Just updated. This update is awesome!
It’s much faster and looks much nicer too. Thanks! Although the launch screen has gone awol again…
The only thing I’d like to see is a counter on the starred items so that I don’t forget that I’ve marked something I want to look at later. Maybe a blue number badge like on the unread items?
FeedDemon was not the first reader I purchased, but it’s the one I use. Very nice indeed.
Have updated to Feeds 1.7 and I really like the less intrusive “send to Instapaper”. Ideally I’d have a button at the button that can be configured for 1 of the “Feed Item Actions”. Every morning I send articles to InstaPaper to read offline on my train. Every extra tap slows me down and often I’m in a rush.
Bug? with 1.7 all my InstaPaper articles are missing the subject, i.e. When I open InstaPaper they appear as “BBC News | News Front Page | Wo…” or “Slashdot”. Therefore I cannot tell what article I am about to open.
Thanks.
I just updated to 1.7 and you guys have totally screwed up this app. The GR initial count is correct but if I hit sync, the numbers are lower and incorrect. On top of that, the number on the feed doesn’t even add up to the detail.
I have set back sync to 3 days and used the reset option as well.
Guys, this is a total mess.
Hey Mike,
Ok, I’ve had a few hours to play with the app. Much improved interface, but has a very serious crashing issue. It has probably crashed about 10 times since my download. I tried resetting the google sync, and I tried to redownload it to see if that would help, but it didn’t – it crashed on first use. It had pretty much crashed every time I’ve used it. If an update is made, maybe we could use that emergency update channel…
Wow. The swipe to star sensitivity is way too low now. It’s almost impossible to swipe to star now. And I’m assuming it’s the same for the swipe to mark read (although I don’t really use this feature).
Loving the new ui. There’s just something about having the favicons that makes me happy.
. I, too, am getting the crashes. Easy to reproduce, just click the top-left ‘feeds’ button really quickly after marking all as read. Boom!
Sorry to keep posting, but I’m a VERY heavy user, and these are the things I’ve come across in my usage. I see the ability to sort the feeds and folder (which is a great addition btw), but I’ve noticed then when I exit the app and return (on show only unread in google sync), the folders are back to being sorted to the default sort. As an update to my precious posts (again sorry), I’ve noticed a couple things. I did a restart of my device and things appear to have improved the crashing issue (I’ve opened and closed the app crash-free about 10 times in a row now since restart). Second of all, with some practice, I’ve figured out the apps expectation for swipe to star, slow, very precise side swipe (I was missing the slow part before). With that said, swiping to unstar or maybe even restar in your starred items does not seem to work at all, although, this may be by design. I was not able to swipe to unstar in my starred items at all. Third, the sync counts still differ at times. I have some screenshots if you would like for me to email them to you. Lastly, when using the open links in feeds using google doesn’t appear to handle some in-page plugins properly. For example, add a feed from appshopper.com and view a thread with that setting and attempt to toggle through the screnshots – it won’t go to the next screenshot. Alternatively, if you just use the view in feeds setting, this plugin is handled properly.
Sorry if it sounds like I’m just complaining, I’m really not, I’m just pointing out the things I’ve run across to consider. Speaking of considering, if you are looking for feature suggestions, mine would still be the search function and image preview that I suggested earlier. Thanks for listening, I love this app, and it’s irreplaceable!
@David, we apologize about the unread count issue. It totally slipped by our testers. We have already found and fixed the bug. It only happens when you manually press the sync button and have unread items inside of folders.
@Victor and @JG, if either (or both) of you can send over a crash log it would be greatly appreciated. We have been using this version for a few weeks now and haven’t had a single crash. I tried the ‘mark all read and press feeds button fast’ method so many times my fingers hurt and I can’t get it to crash. Crash logs are located in the following places:
Mac OS X: ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\
Windows Vista: C:\Users\
@Victor, feel free to keep complaining.
We don’t mind bug reports in any way shape or form. The more detailed the better.
Swiping to star/unstar will only work when you are somewhere other than your starred items. Once we get the ‘help’ section in there all this will be documented in one easy to find place. As for the open using Google Mobilizer feature, javascript links will not work if you use that option. Google strips all javascript out of the page so it will break links of pages that are not designed to fail gracefully when javascript is not available.
We are going to add the search function to feed lists and folder lists in a future update. It is our next major feature addition. It will search all feeds that are available on the iPhone first and then if you dont find what you are looking for it will allow you to do the search through Google and return all results. It will require internet access to complete the full search obviously.
@Lance, we already fixed the InstaPaper bug as well. It looks like it was sending the RSS feed title instead of the article title. The next update will have the fix for sure.
Just played around with the new version. I hate to be so negative, but I really dislike the new UI. The old one wasn’t fancy but it was functional and clean – this new version looks half-finished and amateurish, IMO. For instance, the default icon (used for feeds without a custom favicon) has a white background, so you get an ugly white cutout around the image that clashes with the gradient tablecell background. I also liked the custom gray badges from previous versions a lot better than the default “blue bubble” badges the app uses now.
Functionally, the app works as well as ever for me (although I only have a handful of feeds), and it remains one of the most-used apps on my phone. I just hope the UI can receive some more polishing for future releases.
@Troy, we are all entitled to our opinions and we all have different tastes. We totally agree with you about the default favicon but we didn’t want to put that too high on our list of items to fix because only anal folks like us would notice.
The problem is that the default icon is jpg (easiest conversion from .ico files) and jpg doesn’t support transparency so the white border ends up showing. We personally love the bubble, especially its little effect when the feed count drops to 0. Do expect future updates to polish things off. This is only the first release of the new Feeds so we have much work to do. Once we can rid ourselves of the legacy users who don’t use Google Reader to sync (or find a better way to segregate them) we will be able to polish things up nicely.
Yay! Feeds 1.7 is out. And it’s fantastic. Thanks to Mike and team. I really love this new version… only wish Apple hadn’t made us wait so long to get it! Anyhow, I love the new polished UI, especially the new unread count ‘bubbles’ and the way they ‘jump’ when the unread count goes to 0 or you click ‘mark all unread’! Very cool. Also love that you can now hide folders that don’t contain any unread items… that’s the biggest feature I’ve been waiting for. I’ve only used the new version for a couple of mins but I didn’t experience any crashes. I have noticed a bug though. If you view an article detail or open an article in the built-in web browser and then rotate the phone to landscape mode, feeds seems to stop using the far right-hand 1/3 of the screen. Even if you pinch to zoom, Feeds completely ignores the far right-hand side of the screen. This is reproducible on every single feed/article that I tried! Landscape mode works fine in the top-level feed list, but as soon as you go into the detail of a specific item or open in the web browser then the right-hand screen issue occurs. I have screen-shots if needed.
Anyway just wanted to say thanks so much for this latest update. Feeds is the most used app on my iPhone and the new version is just what I’ve been waiting for!
@Stuart, we fixed the landscape issue minutes after sending but we didn’t want to press our luck with Apple so we decided to let it slide. An update should be heading out to Apple tonight. Hopefully they will be swift with their review.
Mike, if that slipped by your testers, you need new testers. Honestly, if they weren’t using the Sync button, what the hell were they doing?
“We totally agree with you about the default favicon but we didn’t want to put that too high on our list of items to fix because only anal folks like us would notice.”
Fair point! I seem to be in the minority re: the new UI anyway. It works fine, just seems a little rough around the edges to me still, but I’m sure you’ll tighten it up as you go along. Thanks for taking my kvetching with good humor.
Someone else mentioned this, but I don’t know if it was addressed by the admin.
After manually reordering the feeds, my list goes back to a default order once I relaunch the app.
In the prior version of Feeds, I would get around this issue by adding a prefix to each feed title in Google Reader (01 Digg, 02 TUAW, etc.) Even this doesn’t work anymore on Feeds.
Also, might there be a way to turn off the Favorite/Star-swipe? I’m always inadvertently doing this.
Otherwise, thanks for the great app!
@JP, we just now were able to reproduce the sort ordering issue. It is all patched up and we expect to send an update to Apple this evening.
With this new version, if you select “hide read items” and mark a grouping as read then you cannot go back to the root view. The root view is blank. You need to restart to fix.
@Alex, can you provide a screen shot showing the issue? We cannot reproduce on our end. We have no problem marking a group as read.
Mike, am I missing something? Where is the option to not auto-sync at startup? I use Feeds often just to reference something that’s already been downloaded to my device — if the app syncs every time I open it now it’s going to be less usable for me. (Especially while traveling in an Edge area.)
Also, is there an option to turn off favicons? They seem to completely mess with the clean look of the app.
@Joe, we just added two toggles to turn off favicons and only sync manually. We don’t much like the favicons either because their quality is so erratic and they do dirty the look a bit. The update will probably go out this evening to Apple.
Have a couple more things to report. First is images still not loading properly in a feed upon first view. For example, again if you add a feed from appshopper.com, there’s pretty much always two images per feed: the app icon, and the first screenshot of the app. On many occassions, Feeds doesn’t load the screenshot upon first view of the thread, but if you back out of the thread to the feed list, and go back into the specific thread, it’ll appear. I have screenshots again if you would like. On a side note, does feeds pre-load and cache thread images? The second thing to report is the App getting stuck in folder view when trying to go back to main folder list page after marking all in folder as read. The app occassionally gets stuck and wont go back to main page; it’ll let you go back into unread items of folder (showed as blank) but still won’t go back to main page. The only thing to do is get out of the app and go back into it. I would send you the crash reports but I don’t have access to a computer right now and won’t probably before you submit an update. Hope that helps though. If you need any more information, let me know.
@Victor, we do not do any caching of the actual article images and in fact, leave the loading of them 100% in Safari’s hands. We did already catch and fix the ‘app getting stuck on folder view’ issue.
Sorry my copy and paste of my notes apparently didn’t format too well…sorry again.
Mike,
I’ve noticed two bugs. First when I sync on the app then read something in my browser when it syncs backup it shows already read items as unread in the all items view. In these screenshots you can can see how it says there are two items but it shows more in the all items view in that category.
http://www.getdropbox.com/gallery/12206/1/Feeds?h=436739
Secondly, I noticed when you drill down into a category you can’t navigate back to the start screen. The top left nav button disappears.
I’m using iPhone 3.0 on 3GS and the newest version of your app.
@Chris, are you using Google for syncing or the older, Feeds style syncing?
I am syncing with Google Reader if that’s what you mean. What about the navigation error?
After buying every single RSS app on iTunes, and testing them all for weeks, I am happy to say that I have finally picked Feeds as my replacement for NetNewsWire! It does exactly what I want — A nice, clean interface, and a quick and easy way to star articles.
Unlike most folks, I very rarely read articles on the iPhone. Instead, I quickly skim through 400+ feeds (all nicely categorized, thankfully), starring ones that I want to read later on, when I get back to my Mac. I am usually doing this while I am walking outside or commuting, etc.
I would like a way to turn off the 3D appearance. A simple black (or blue) text, on a white background would be perfect! Perhaps give the user the ability to toggle these settings.
Thanks for making a great app!
I must say Mike, you’ve done a wonderful job with v1.71 from what I’ve seen so far. I confess I recently strayed away from Feeds as I was liking the speed and features of a couple of other apps better.
Saw that your latest version was out and put it back on my iPhone, entered my Google account tweaked a few of the settings and so far it’s much more what I want and need in a reader.
Love the choice of opening the web page in Feeds, Safari or via Google Mobile which is one thing I REALLY wanted
I also notice when viewing an article that we can now pinch and double-tap to zoom in/out, another wish granted
I’m back using Feeds everyday from today and hope it stays solid and reliable, awesome work so far in this version!
My only negative which I’ve mentioned before is the preview text on the feeds, especially noticeable on Engadget.com feeds, if the main heading takes 2 lines then you always have a gap before showing just one line of the preview text – would love it if you could get that space used up to show more of the preview text, it looks quite messy I find with those huge gaps.
@Fedorov, glad you like the update. We have one more bug fixer that will be going out to Apple in the next few days that should leave Feeds really solid so that we can get back to adding some new features.
Is there anyway to make the sensitivity of “mark as read” a user preference/setting?
Right now with the current version I’d have better luck hitting the powerball then getting feeds to mark an article as read.
Btw, I suggested the feature way when so I’m not new to feeds or this feature.
@Greg, unfortunately we can’t make the ‘mark as read’ sensitivity a user preference. It has way to many parameters and is far too complicated. There is a lot going on there such as limiting based on the slope of your touch, the speed at which you touch, how much room we allow in the y direction, etc. We are still tweaking it and it should get nice and consistant soon.
Is it a known bug that after marking read the last feed within a folder, where it then automatically takes you back out of the now empty folder to the top level it doesn’t always go back up that level. It seems to try but you lose the “Feeds” back button from the top left corner.
Happens a least once a day for me – trying to find a pattern to it, getting a feeling that it does it more often when I’m at home using my wifi connection yet it seems more reliable at work just using a 3G connection. Is it connection speed related i.e. Wifi is doing somehing too fast and screwing it up trying to get back out of the folder?
@Fedorov, I believe this fixed in the update Apple is reviewing now, 1.72.
Hi,
I’ve been using your application since the first version.
Great app. Has had it’s ups’n down’s
Ether-way there are 2 things that I’d really like to see, If I’m going to stay a loyal user
1. I’m really missing that manually sync. I have a huge RSS list so it is very impractical that Feeds syncs every time I turn it on. I haven’t actually used Feeds much since you removed this option!
2. As I understand you are encouraging people to move over to Google Reader sync, that’s fine if it weren’t for the huge RSS list that I have to painstakingly re-create in Googe Reader
Googe Reader supports import, can you please add support for exporting the current RSS setup, so one can import it again to Google Reader!(http://www.google.com/support/reader/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=70572)
Thank you.
//UggaBugga
@UggaBugga, manual sync will be back in 1.72 which is in review with Apple. Google adds a ton of features and it highly recommended. If you send me your deviceId via email I should be able to get you an OMPL file for importing to Google.
@Mike(admin)
Ok, that sounds great regarding manual sync.
Emm. how do I get your e-mail address or you could just send me an e-mail and I will reply with my deviceId(remind me again, why do you need my deviceId?).
Thank you very much for your time
/UggaBugga
@UggaBugga, forget the email. Read this instead: http://www.prime31.com/iphone/feeds-users-not-using-google-reader-for-syncing-opml-export/
Hi,
downloaded feeds as a replacement for netnewswire and loving it! Just a few requests if possible?
i’d like an option send all stared stories to readitlater or instapaper. Having to do this for each story gets a bit annoying. Maybe a button on bottom of stared items.
Would it also be possible to have an option to hide ‘all items’ and ‘shared items’?’
A couple of bugs I seen:
When using wifi it updates my folders with number of unread, but when using 3g it dosent appear until I go in and out of the feeds!
when adding feed over 3g/gsm I’m getting a random server error when adding/editing feed names.
Thanks
andy
@a1dutch, are you using Google for syncing or the old-style, built in sync method? If not, I can’t recommend enough switching over to it. What is the error you are seeing when editing the feed names?
Hi Mike,
I’m using google to sync my feeds. I would just like a way to sync a set of items with readitlater if possible, without having to click on the ‘feed actions’ menu then ‘readitlater’ for every item.
I don’t use google reader on the computer, just on the go and like to download the full story before I leave home.
Will try and reproduce the error over the weekend and post it for you.
hi, im using feeds since a few weeks and really like it. but a became aware of a few bugs.
every time i open the web page and then go back to item list and press the mark all read button, the app crashes down.
if i dont read all synced items and then close the app and start i later again, the numbers of unread items do not appair at my groups or feeds, i have to go to item list and back, first.
i use google reader to sync and tried differnt “sync back” settings. i only sync manuelly.
@mcroennau, we have an update in review with Apple right now. It should fix the issue you are seeing because I am not able to reproduce it. If it doesn’t, please post back here.
Hi Mike
I recently had to get a new iPhone thru apple as I broke my screen. I reinstalled feeds on the new phone and have not been able to add any feeds (I don’t use google; install rss feeds only).
I keep getting the following error message each time I try to add a feed:
“error adding feed. Operation could not be completed. (INSURLErrorDomain error – 1012.)”
any ideas?
Zoso
@Zoso, the error you are getting is a lack of permission. We have seen this a handful of times and the only way we have found to fix it is to delete and reinstall Feeds. If you installed via the App Store, try downloading and installing from iTunes or vice versa. Using Google Reader for syncing also seems to fix the issue and we HIGHLY recommend that you use Reader for syncing due to the fact that all new features have only been added to Reader for a few updates.
