Downtime For Users Not Using Google Reader

To all of the users out there still using the Feeds sync (not Google Reader) there will be a couple hours of downtime later tonight.  We expect downtime to be less than an hour with a maximum downtime of about 3 hours.  We apologize for such short notice and hope to get things up and running as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, this would be a great time to try out using Google Reader to sync with!

UPDATE: The server maintenance did not go as planned and we are experiencing some downtime.  We hope to have everything up and running within a couple hours (by 11:00 AM PST) at worst.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

ANOTHER UPDATE:  Looks like we are back up and running.

    Discovery still = fail

Getting “can’t find host” error when searching for feeds, and existing feeds don’t refresh

    It’s back up now…

Should add exception handling to next update – so when directory server is unavailable, feeds already set (outside of google) still sync properly. It seemed like because your central directory server wasn’t available, my existing non google reader feeds wouldn’t refresh for some reason

@Neil, all feeds sync to the server. If it is down, there is no way to do any syncing. The directory server is the same one that we use to grab all feed information for non Google syncing. Thankfully, we have only had 2 outages (1 lasted about 15 minutes) in the last 2 years with this server.
