Feeds 1.8 Sneek Peek (if Apple ever finishes reviewing the 1.7 update)

Since Apple has taken over a month now to review version 1.7 of Feeds we have been busy preparing version 1.8.  1.8 is probably the biggest update yet besides when we added Google Reader syncing a loooong time ago.  There are a few screen shots below to let you see the visual changes we made.  The internal changes that I can remember off the top of my head are:

Feeds – The Next Minor Update

UPDATE: ReadItLater seems to be working well and our testing of the other changes is complete.  Feeds version 1.5 is now in Apple’s hands.

We are wrapping up testing on the next update now.  There isn’t too much to report on this one.  There are a couple additions and we are starting the process of removing some settings as well. (more…)

Google Reader Changes and Feeds Update

This post goes out to anyone who is seeing an issue with Feeds having items marked as unread even though they have been read.  It turns out, Google changed a few things on us and it took us a few days to figure it all out and get things patched up.  We have one more day of testing before we send the next update to Apple. Quick Update on Version 1.3

With version 1.22 we introduced some really big changes on the backend.  The entire system of saving and accessing feeds and feed items was redone from the ground up.  So far the transition has been very smooth with just one bug that popped up that we have already fixed.  We also found a little bug with the InstaPaper support that we have already fixed. Feeds Version 1.22 Nearing Completion

We have been busy adding the most asked for features into the next version of Feeds while still trying to keep it simple and easy to use.  The last update included a new method for syncing with Google Reader that greatly sped up the network connection and sync time.  This speed increase introduced some other unexpected consequences.  The worst of which was having Feeds freeze for up to a few seconds (usually just a fraction of a second for most people) when it added all of the downloaded RSS feed items to it’s internal database.  We didn’t like the way things worked when downloading a lot of items so this week we rewrote the entire internal database system to make sure it never, ever slows down the user interface.  Feeds is much smoother now. New Features for the Next Major Update

This post is just to keep everyone up to date on the development of Feeds and all of the new features that will be in the next major version.  We have receive a ton of feedback on what everyone wanted to see in the new version and we quite simply put them in the order that they were most requested and started working on them.  Here is a list of what to expect in the next major version (I’m sure I’ll forget a few so there will probably be updates to this post):

How do you want feed categories to work?

We have a ton of new features in the pipeline for future versions of Feeds.  There is much debate as to how we should implement the feed categories so this post is to hopefully get some opinions from some of the people out there using Feeds.
