Feeds Jumps to Version 1.94

We just sent an update to Apple a few minutes ago. This update fixes the iOS 4 issues with popups (username/password entry and tags) and also fixes the feed list now showing new items. We also managed to stick a couple new features in there. You can now save a bookmark to Delicious along with tags and Instapaper Mobilizer can be used to view web pages in Feeds. Enjoy your fancy new iPhone if you got one!

Feeds and Google Reader Authentication

This one goes out to anyone who is having problems logging in with the newest version (1.91) of Feeds.  The only people who will be affected are those that have a Google login that is both for Google Apps and regular Google services.  We just submitted a fix to Apple.  To remedy the situation you will need to open the Settings.app and change the new ‘Login Type’ setting to Google.  This will force Google to not use your Google Apps account which should get you logged in properly.  Thanks for your patience.

Update (04/07/10): Feeds just changed status to ‘In Review’.

Update (04/07/10): Feeds just went live.  Anyone who was having login issues post here if they are resolved.

Feeds Version 1.91 Available Now

Not much changed in this version but it is very important that you update ASAP.  Google will be changing the way logging in to Google Reader works in “early April”.  If you are using an older version of Feeds you will not be able to sync with Google Reader.  Besides that, there is a new setting for the posting of links to Instapaper, ReadItLater and Twitter.  Be sure to set your preference before proceeding.

Feeds Version 1.81 Ready for Apple

The long awaited update to Feeds is heading out to Apple tomorrow morning.  Not too much as changed in this one but there were two handy items…well, for most people just one handy item.  The second item is aimed at Feeds blind users and those with accessibility requirements.

Feeds Version 1.8 Off to Apple for Review

We sent off the newest build of Feeds to Apple for review.  Hopefully it will take them less than a month to get this one out.  This version contains the following:

  • You can now add a note to any article (if using Google Reader)
  • Fixed a crashing bug when deleting a folder
  • Fixed the ‘Get 20 more’ issue when show only unread was turned ON and it didn’t actually return 20 more

Enjoy!

UPDATE (12/11):  In record time Apple has finished reviewing the update and it is now live.  This marks by far the quickest update we have ever received clocking in at just 5 days.  2.5 weeks was the previous record and it has most often been over a month.  Maybe Apple doesn’t hate us as much as we thought…or maybe they just forgot to tell the new guy to stick our updates on the back burner for a few weeks before looking at them.

Feeds Version 1.73 sent to Apple

A fairly minor update was just sent to Apple a few hours ago.  Fixed in the update are:

  • unread count issue when marking an item as read
  • an odd issue that comes up when portrait only is set and you hold your iPhone sideways while navigating to the article view page

Edit: Just a short 21 days after we submitted the update to Apple version 1.73 has officially gone live in the App Store.  You should get update notifications in the App Store shortly.

Feeds 1.8 Sneek Peek (if Apple ever finishes reviewing the 1.7 update)

Since Apple has taken over a month now to review version 1.7 of Feeds we have been busy preparing version 1.8.  1.8 is probably the biggest update yet besides when we added Google Reader syncing a loooong time ago.  There are a few screen shots below to let you see the visual changes we made.  The internal changes that I can remember off the top of my head are:

Feeds Version 1.7 Sent Off to Apple

We just sent off version 1.7 to Apple for review.  Nothing major to report for the update.  It is just a few more tweaks to make everything happy with iPhone OS 3.0 and 3.0.1.  The updated includes the following:

✚ Reduced sensitivity in the swipe to mark item read/starred

✚ Removed errors when viewing RSS feeds offline and Feeds tries to load an image

✚ Updated to the new ReadItLater integration API

✚ Fixed issue when editing a feed inside a folder

✚ Added the ability to back sync up to 5 days (Note: this will make sync times very long in some cases)

August 22 edit:  we are patiently awaiting word from Apple as to whether they will allow this update or now.  We are on day 20 and hoping that Apple will eventually get around to reviewing Feeds.  It sure is a good thing this updated didn’t have a major bug fix in it!

UPDATE:  We pulled this version from Apple’s review process due to the insane amount of time it has been in review.  See http://www.prime31.com/iphone/feeds-1-8-sneek-peek-if-apple-ever-finishes-reviewing-the-1-7-update for more info.

Feeds – The Next Minor Update

UPDATE: ReadItLater seems to be working well and our testing of the other changes is complete.  Feeds version 1.5 is now in Apple’s hands.

We are wrapping up testing on the next update now.  There isn’t too much to report on this one.  There are a couple additions and we are starting the process of removing some settings as well. (more…)

Google Reader Changes and Feeds Update

This post goes out to anyone who is seeing an issue with Feeds having items marked as unread even though they have been read.  It turns out, Google changed a few things on us and it took us a few days to figure it all out and get things patched up.  We have one more day of testing before we send the next update to Apple.
